Detectives investigating the theft of a car that was later used in a robbery have released CCTV of a man they want to trace. The black Audi S3 Quattro was stolen from the driveway of a house in West Derby and used two days later by four men who targeted a cash delivery guard at Co-Op in Wavertree.

The man in the CCTV had knocked at the house just minutes before three offenders climbed over the back wall of the property and forced entry by lifting the patio doors off its hinges. Once inside the burglars searched the unoccupied house and stole keys to the Audi and another car, as well as a gold chain and a digital camera. They then went to the front of the house and used the keys to steal the Audi from the drive. The burglary happened on April 26th while the victim was at work. She returned home that night to find the car gone and signs of a break-in. Two days later on April 28th, the Audi was used as a getaway vehicle for four men who approached a security guard delivering cash to the Co-Op store in Church Road North, Wavertree. As the guard turned to run away he fell over, dropping the cash box. The four offenders stole the box and drove off in the Audi, which is distinctive due to it having silver wing mirrors. Detectives investigating both crimes are keen to identify and speak to the man in the CCTV who knocks on the door of the house minutes before the burglary occurs as he may have information that could help progress their investigation. Anyone who recognises him should call the Matrix hotline on 0800 230 0600 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
