Two men are recovering in hospital after reportedly being stabbed in Southport.

Two men are recovering in hospital after reportedly being stabbed in Southport.

Emergency services were called at around 4.15pm on Sunday afternoon to reports two men had been serious assaulted in King Street.

They were taking to hospital suffering from slash wounds, one man with injuries to his arm, the other his neck and back.

Their injuries aren't thought to be life threatening.

A Police spokesperson said "The investigation is at a very early stage and the motive is unclear but detectives believe it to be a targeted incident."

"CCTV is being sought and inquiries carried out in the area."
