Two killed in Haydock crash

A man and woman have died in a car crash which also left two children seriously injured.

Merseyside Police were called to the collision between a silver Volkswagen Golf and red Vauxhall Corsa in Liverpool Road in Haydock at about 7.20pm on Sunday.

A force spokesman said the driver of the VW, a 37-year-old man, and the front seat passenger, a 37-year-old woman, died following the incident.

A 16-year-old boy and 12-year-old girl, who were passengers, in the car are both in hospital in a serious condition.

A 29-year-old man, who was also a passenger in the Golf, is in a critical condition.

Police said the 27-year-old male driver of the Corsa was being treated for minor injuries in hospital.
