Emergency services were called to Addenbrooke Drive at around 9.20pm following reports that a man and woman had been shot in a house on the road. The offenders are believed to have forced entry to the property before shooting the pair inside.
The 45-year-old man and 46-year-old woman have been taken to hospital where they are being treated for serious injuries to their legs consistent with being shot with a shotgun. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Officers are keeping an open mind as to the motive and extensive enquiries are being carried out to establish the full circumstances of what happened, but it is believed to be targeted.
No-one else has been injured.
Witnesses are being sought and house-to-house enquiries are being carried out. CCTV from the area is also being sought in a bid to identify the offenders.
Crime scene investigators are in attendance at the scene where they are carrying out forensic examinations. A cordon is in place and Addenbrooke Drive is currently closed to traffic. Uniformed officers have stepped up patrols in the area to provide reassurance for the community.
DI Rachel Wilson, from Matrix Serious Organised Crime unit, said: “This was a brazen attack and we are determined to bring the person or people responsible to justice.
"The victims were in their house at the time but fortunately neither have suffered life-threatening injuries.
"We will not tolerate the use of guns on the streets of Speke or anywhere in Merseyside and we will do all we can to protect communities from the criminals who use them"
"I would urge anyone who has any information which could help us with our inquiries to come forward so we can take those responsible off the streets and put them before the courts. We will act on all information."
