Two people have been arrested after a suspected stabbing in Birkenhead.

Two people have been arrested after a suspected stabbing in Birkenhead.

At about 6.10pm, emergency services were called to Adelphi Street to a report from a member of the public that a 30-year-old man had been found collapsed in the street.

Patrols and the North West Ambulance Service attended the location and found the man with a minor puncture wound to his head. He was taken to Arrowe Park Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

It is believed an altercation involving two men had happened at an address on Argyle Street. Officers attended the property and discovered a 44-year-old man with minor puncture wounds to his head.

A 30-year-old man of no fixed abode and a 44-year-old man from Birkenhead were arrested on suspicion of Section 18 wounding. They have been taken to a police station on Merseyside to be interviewed by officers.

House to house enquiries have been carried out and CCTV opportunities are being explored. Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.
