Tranmere legend Johnny King laid to rest
The funeral for Tranmere's greatest ever manager is taking place at St Peter's Church in Heswall today
Hundreds of people will pay their respects to Tranmere's greatest ever manager Johnny King today as he is laid to rest.
The 77-year-old died at the end of last month following a long illness.
A service is taking place at St Peter's Church in Heswall at 1pm.
His friend and Assistant Manager Ray Mathias will be reading a eulogy. He spoke to Radio City Sport's Matt Jones;
Johnny took Tranmere on their most successful run ever in the early 90s, when they almost made it to the Premier League, earning him a legendary status amongst supporters.
Following the news of his death people turned out to pay their respects by leaving flowers, shirts and scarves in tribute to him at his statue outside Prenton Park.
