Toxteth boxer Bellew joins Liverpool's fight against racism
All this week the city is taking a stand against prejudice and discrimination
Toxteth boxer Tony Bellew is joining Liverpool's fight against racism as the city takes a stand against prejudice and discrimination.
Events are happening right across Liverpool this week to open up conversation about racism to give people a platform to creatively respond to hate crime.
Bomber, who is mixed race himself, has been talking about his own experiences growing up.
He's been telling us teaching young people that racism is wrong is a big step to creating a fairer society :
"We need to keep having difficult conversations about how we can improve the educational system for children. Racism is taught, you're not born to be a racist. It's taught from a young age, education is key.
"We're probably one of the most multicultural cities in the whole world an dthis is why we are taking this stance.
"If anything the older generation need educating, the kids today don't tend to see colour much, it's the parents and the grandparents. We're halfway there but there's still a long way to go".
