Three teens arrested over electric bike thefts

We have arrested three teenagers and seized suspected stolen electric and pedal cycles following two warrants in Liverpool today, Thursday 20 October.

The warrants were carried out in Everton and Kensington this morning, as part of an investigation into the suspected theft, handling and fraudulent sale of electric bikes believed to have been stolen from addresses primarily believed to be in Wirral.

A 17-year-old male from Kensington was arrested on suspicion of Burglary dwelling; Burglary other; and Theft of pedal cycle

A 16-year-old male from Everton was arrested on suspicion of Theft of motor vehicle; Theft of pedal cycle; Fraud by false representation; Theft other; Handling stolen goods; and Possession of an offensive weapon (a baton found during the course of the warrant)

A 15-year-old male from Everton was arrested on suspicion of Burglary; Handling stolen goods; Theft of motor vehicle and Theft of cycle.

All three have been taken to police stations to be questioned.

Detective Sergeant Nick Glascott-Tull explains more: “The three males remain in custody, and we suspect that the bikes pictured may be stolen. As yet, our enquiries into known theft and burglary offences haven’t tracked down the owners, but these are in the early stages. If you have been a victim of such a crime, we want to hear from you, so we can verify ownership and hopefully get these bikes back to where they belong.

“Additionally, if you have been offered these bikes or seen them for sale online or elsewhere, we want to hear from you, to put those involved before the courts and also to protect innocent members of the public from unwittingly buying stolen goods. Always make sure you check the origin of such items where you can, including any identification numbers, security markings, and the legitimacy and online feedback of those attempting to sell them.”
