Three binmen were taken to hospital earlier following a chemical spill in Bebington.

Cordons were put in place on Fairacres Road after liquid was spotted out of a back of a bin lorry. Residents were advised to keep their windows closed as a precaution.

Both Police and the Fire Service are still at the scene investigating.

Audrey's son lives on the street, but he was unable to leave his home. She said "Somebody put a canister in a bin, and when the refuse came to empty it into the crusher, foam started oozing out of whatever it was and melting the tar."

The three bin men have now been given the all clear and discharged from hospital.
