Three people have been arrested on Thursday morning during dawn raids in Huyton and Widnes. Police executed three warrants targeting people believed to be involved in firearms offences. Detective Inspector Mike Leyland from the Matrix Serious and Organised Crime Unit said: “Today’s operation follows a thorough and extensive investigation looking into recent firearms discharges in Speke, Rainhill, Huyton and Whiston between September 2014 and April 2015. “Today’s warrants have been carefully planned to target individuals we believe to be involved in a variety of firearms offences and shows our commitment to tackle gun crime. “I would like to reassure our communities that we are relentless in pursuing those involved and recognise that the use of firearms blights our communities and puts ordinary law-abiding people at risk. “These arrests today send out a clear message that we will continue to disrupt those people involved in firearms offences and will put them before the courts to make sure our streets are kept safe.”

An 18-year-old man from St Helens and a 26-year-old man from Widnes have been arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent to endanger life. A 30-year-old man from Huyton has been arrested on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent to endanger life and possession with intent to supply drugs.
