Teenager in serious condition after stabbing in Liverpool
17 year old boy in serious condition
Detectives are appealing for witnesses after a stabbing in West Derby on Sunday night. Patrols were called to Almonds Green at 7.40pm by a member of the public reporting an altercation outside a house involving two groups. On arrival police officers found a 17-year-old male with stab wounds to his upper body. He was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital by ambulance. His condition is described as serious but stable. Detectives believe the offender left on one of two distinctive scrambler bikes that were in Almonds Green at the time. One is described as red/orange and white and the other was green and white. Both scrambler bikes were ridden away up Haymans Green and officers are making extensive enquiries to identify the two bikes, where they are now and who was riding them. Detective Chief Inspector Phil Mahon from Liverpool CID said: “This was an extremely serious and violent attack in which a young man could have lost his life having been stabbed several times. Thankfully the doctors tell us his injuries are not life threatening and he is stable in hospital. We are working hard to establish a motive for this attack and the full circumstances of what happened. “Several people have already come forward to help us and we believe the victim was on his pedal bike in Almonds Green when he has been approached by the two scramblers and attacked by someone on one of those bikes. We know there were a number of scrambler bikes being ridden around West Derby village and the Eaton Road area on Sunday night and we are keeping an open mind as to their involvement in this incident. “I need to hear from anyone who saw the altercation in which the victim was stabbed, anyone who was in the area and can identify anyone on a scrambler bike, or who thinks they know where bikes matching the descriptions we have may be stored now. “We will not tolerate violence and the criminal use of scrambler bikes on the streets of Merseyside and if the public tell us who is using them and where they are being hidden, the police will take action.” Call St Anne Street on 0151 777 4065 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
