Teenager sentenced after boy and girl stabbed at Kirkby bus stop
The 15-year-old was arrested in April
A 15-year-old boy has been sentenced to 13 years in custody after stabbing a boy and a girl at a bus stop in Kirkby.
Emergency services were called to Whitefield Drive on Wednesday 30 April, following reports a 15-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl had been stabbed.
Both teenagers were rushed to hospital, where they were treated for serious injuries.
The boy was arrested at home a short time later has now been sentenced to 13 years in a Youth Offenders Institute.
He has now been convicted of attempted murder, Section 20 assault and possession of an offensive weapon.
Detective Inspector Graeme Osborne said: “This sentencing demonstrates very clearly the impact that carrying a knife can have not just on victims, but on the perpetrator too.
“At a young age, this offender has found himself facing a long period in custody. He and his family are paying a heavy price for his decision to carry and use a knife that day, and I hope he and others recognise the widespread harm people carrying knives can bring."
