A teenager has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed following reports of a knife in Halewood.
Emergency services were called to New Hutte Lane at around 19:50BST on Tuesday night (27 May).
A 16-year-old boy was found stabbed in the arm and chest, and remains in a stable condition in hospital.
An investigation is underway and house-to-house, CCTV and witness enquiries are being carried out in the local area.
Detective Inspector Graeme Kehoe said: “Enquiries are underway to establish the circumstances around this incident.
“We received a report from a member of the public of two males fighting with knives. One male has suffered injuries to his arm and chest and has been taken to hospital.
“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area of New Hutte Lane at around 7.50pm this evening who saw or heard anything to contact us
“Incidents like this can sadly prove fatal and I would urge parents and guardians to warn children and young people of the dangers of arming themselves with knives or other weapons.
“Tackling knife crime remains a priority for Merseyside Police and we will take robust action against anyone found to be in possession of a knife.
“We would urge the public to help us to take action by being our eyes and ears and telling us what they know.”
