Merseyside Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was shot and injured in Toxteth on Saturday 29 May.
Shortly before 8pm, police were called to Crown Street Park after reports of shots being fired following an altercation. Evidence has been found to confirm shots were fired.
The victim, a 19-year-old man, was reportedly on a push bike arguing with two men wearing masks shortly before the incident. He was found a short time later and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
The offenders are believed to have exited the park on a bike near to Crown Street.
House-to-house, forensic and CCTV enquiries are underway and officers will be carrying out extra patrols in the area tonight to offer reassurance and gather information.
Detective Chief Inspector Matt Smith said: “The fact shots have been fired on the street place will understandably shock those in the local community and beyond. We believe that people close to Crown Street, Smithdown Lane, and Crown Street car park will have seen or heard something tonight and may have dashcam footage which could identify the offenders.
“Whether you have descriptions of those involved, saw anyone running off, or hold CCTV, dashcam or other footage, come forward as soon as possible and we will take action. We understand the worry that people sometimes have when talking to police so whether you come forward directly or anonymously to Crimestoppers, tell us what you know.”
Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Merseyside Police social media desk via Twitter @MerPolCC or Facebook Merseyside Police CC with reference 948 of 29 May.
