North Wales Police are continuing to question an 18-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of murdering a woman in Prestatyn.

A body was found in the Morfa area, near to Dawson Drive, shortly before 8:40am on Friday 24 October. The identity of the body is currently unknown, with identification yet to take place.

On Friday evening, detectives confirmed that they were not actively searching for anyone else in connection with the investigation.

The North Wales force also said extra police officers would remain in place across Prestatyn throughout the weekend to provide reassurance to communities.

Superintendent Lee Boycott said: “I can confirm that we are not actively looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and I would like to reassure the community that there is no evidence to suggest any wider risk to the public.

“Extensive enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the woman’s death, and we are continuing to ask people to avoid the area.

“Increased patrols will remain in place today and throughout the weekend to ensure our communities feel safe and reassured following this incident.

“I would also ask that people do not speculate about the incident online and report any concerns or information to officers at the earliest opportunity.”
