Teenager 'critical' after being hit by car in Dovecot

The 13 year old is fighting for his life in hospital

A 13-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after he was hit by a car in Dovecot.

Merseyside Police say the driver did stop at the scene and is helping with their investigation.

The force has released the following statement:

'An investigation is underway following a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Princess Drive in Dovecot last night (Tuesday 25th January).

'Officers were contacted at just after 6.50pm following reports a 13 year-old boy had been in collision with a Kia Venga at the junction of Finch Road.

'The boy was taken to hospital with serious injuries and is currently in a critical condition.

'The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries.

'An investigation into the collision is underway and enquiries are being carried out in the local area.'
