A 19-year-old has been charged after a teenager was found with stab wounds in Wavertree.

Merseyside Police were called to Bird Street at 7am on Monday 20 May to reports a 16-year-old had been injured in a suspected armed robbery.

Jamal Adam-Neale, of no fixed address, was charged with attempted robbery, wounding and possession of an offensive weapon.

He is due to appear at Wirral Magistrates Court on Tuesday 21 May

Detective Inspector Chris Carlin said: “Knife crime remains a priority for Merseyside Police as we know how devastating it can be when someone uses a knife to inflict harm. Thankfully we have seen a reduction in knife crime in Merseyside in the past year but even one incident is one too many.

“Last week was a week of action as part of Sceptre, the national knife crime awareness campaign, and we want to keep highlighting the harm that carrying weapons causes, so that the number of people affected continues to drop. We hope to achieve this through our partnership work, patrols and stop searches.”
