Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to following reports of a sexual assault on a teenage girl in a bus in Liverpool.

The girl was on the number 82 service from St. John's shopping centre when she was attacked at around 17:30BST on 01 October, according to Merseyside Police.

It is believed a man approached her, sat next to her and spoke to her, before assaulting her as she moved away.

The girl sat downstairs and waited for the man to get off the bus outside a KFC restaurant on Speke Road.

Detectives have now released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to and are asking for any witnesses to come forward.

Detective Constable Susan Parsons said: “This was clearly a very distressing incident for the teenage girl and we are supporting her as we continue to investigate this incident.

“We would like to speak to the man pictured as we believe he could help with our enquiries and I would urge anyone who recognises him gets in touch.

“There were other people on the bus at the time of the incident, so if you can remember what happened or witnessed anything, please let us know.”
