Teenage boy dies on M6 last night following concerns for his safety

A teenage boy has died on the M6 last night following 'concern for his safety'.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on the motorway near junction 21 at Warrington at around 9.40pm last night.

We're told that despite best efforts to save him, the boy died on the scene.

His age has not yet been confirmed.

According to National Highways, the motorway was closed for a number of hours overnight and did not re-open until 5am this morning.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said:

"Officers were called at 9.40pm on Thursday 17 August to the M6 at J21 following reports of a concern for safety of a teenage boy.

"Sadly, despite best efforts, the teenager passed away at the scene. A full road closure was put in place while emergency services were in attendance."
