Detectives investigating shootings in Norris Green and Croxteth have arrested a man on suspicion of possessing a firearm.

At around 9.50pm, armed officers were called to a house in Delabole Road, Croxteth following reports of shots fired. Damage was found to a window, door and two cars in the vicinity which is believed to be consistent with a firearm having been discharged.

Shortly after, at 10.10pm, a second report was received of damage to a window in Carsington Road, West Derby. Armed police attended this second location and found damage consistent with a shotgun, and casings were found at the scene.

The two locations are approximately one mile apart and detectives are investigating the possibility that the incidents are potentially linked.

At around 10.30pm, a dark-coloured Keeway Superlight motorbike with a rider and pillion passenger was sighted at speed on the East Lancs Road travelling away from the City Centre. Following a brief pursuit in the L11 area, the bike was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Corsa and both the rider and passenger came off the bike.

The passenger ran off on foot towards Asda and the 18-year-old rider was taken to hospital for treatment, with bruising but non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Corsa was uninjured and provided a negative breath test.

At this stage, enquiries are ongoing to establish any link to the shooting incidents. The motorbike is believed to have been stolen on 3 August from the L13 area.
