One man in Liverpool has spoken of his shock after his 50 foot tree came crashing into his home - as Storm Gertrude batters Merseyside.

It happened around 5pm on Prince Albert Road in Wavertree on Thursday evening.

The fir tree hit the roof and knocked over tiles - causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage.

Homeowner David Mills said:

"I heard a horrible crash, and the hautning sound of the needles scrapping across the tiles"

"I had to get outside just to see whats happening, I had no idea this would happen"

Yellow weather warnings have been issued for Merseyside as the bad weather passes the region.
