Merseyside Police have confirmed that detectives have today (26th November) launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman in Liverpool.

At around 4.55pm yesterday, Thursday 25th November, emergency services were called to The Green in Stoneycroft to reports a woman, aged 47 years, had been found in a house. She was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

The woman is still to be formally identified and her next of kin informed.

A post mortem is due to take place to establish the cause of death.

Three men (two aged 21 and 57 from Stoneycroft, and one aged 46 years from Norris Green) were arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday and remain in custody.

Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Detective Superintendent Cheryl Rhodes said: “The investigation is in the very early stages and we are looking at a number of lines of enquiry. I would ask anyone with any information which could assist our enquiries to contact us as a matter of urgency.

“I realise that some people will feel alarmed to hear about this but I want to offer my reassurance that we continue to work with our partners to offer protection and support to women and girls who are faced with violence and we have specialist officers who can support anyone who has the courage to come forward and speak to us.

“It is important to stress that nobody is alone and there is help available to anyone suffering in a violent or controlling relationship via Merseyside Police and our partner organisations, so please take that first step.”
