The green light's been given for proposals to revamp a large part of Stanley Park.

Proposals to give Stanley Park a huge facelift have been approved this afternoon.

Key to the plans are big improvements to a car park used by both Everton and Liverpool fans on matchdays.

The car park - which holds around a thousand vehicles on a matchday - will be completely resurfaced and spaces will be clearly allocated to drivers.

The proposals had provoked anger from residents because more than one hundred trees will be lost during the work - but officials have promised to re-plant nearly all of them.

It's hoped work can now begin in the next few months.
