St Helens man, who caused death of teenage boy in crash, is jailed

A man has been jailed for ten years for causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal collision in St Helens last year.

Brandon Glover, 25, from St Helens, was sentenced today, Wednesday 20 September, at Liverpool Crown Court after pleading guilty to the offence.

At around 12.30am on Tuesday 4 October 2022, a car driven by Glover was involved in a collision with two motorbikes close to the junction of Park Road and Boardmans Lane.

Harley Lea, aged 17, suffered severe head injuries and was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

Two other males also suffered serious injuries in the incident and required hospital treatment.

Glover was also sentenced for two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. For these offences he was sentenced to 45 months and 35 months, which will run concurrently.

Detective Chief Inspector John Fitzgerald said: “This was a tragic incident that resulted in the death of a young man who had his whole life ahead of him.

“Although no sentencing can bring back Harley, I sincerely hope that today’s result can bring some sort of comfort to his family.
