Liverpool Sound City Festival: What you need to know
The festival will run across nine stages for three days in the city
Last updated 1st Oct 2021
Liverpool Sound City festival has returned for the first time since 2019, bringing a mix of local, national and international emerging talent on some of the cities best stages.
This year sees indie darling Beabadoobee, local lads Red Rum Club, and Irish rapper Rejjie Snow headlining the festival, with other up and coming acts taking to the stage, such as Navos, The Lathums and Jamie Webster.
The festival will run from Friday 1st October to Sunday 3rd October across nine stages.
Unlike previous years, the festival is moving away from the Baltic Triangle and into the town centre, with Grand Central Hall being the main stage for the weekend.
Other venues across the weekend include The Arts Club loft and theatre, Jimmy's, Leaf, Jacaranda, EBGBS, The Kazimier Stockroom and The Shipping Forecast.
The festival is expected to have 5000 eager music fans attending across the weekend.
Any one attending must first go to the Bombed Out Church on Berry Street to collect their wristband for the weekend, which will allow them to access all nine stages throughout the weekend.
All set times are on the gigseekr app, which is available on both iPhone and android. Make sure you set your location to North West and click the Sound City icon at the top of the screen to view all the times and venues.
Sound City +, the UK’s leading independent conference for new music, will also take place across the whole weekend.
The business event will be full of panels, workshops and InConversations from a wide range of industry professionals. The conference will start at British Music Experience, before moving across to the Baltic Triangle.
Who are the essentials to see this weekend?
This years line-up is stacked full of exciting local acts, from the psychedelic sounds of Monks, to the grittier sounds of Courting, alright (okay) and Crawlers.
Red Rum Club, who have sold out every Liverpool date they've played, headline Grand Central Hall on Saturday night shortly after scouse star and special guest Jamie Webster takes stage.
Other local talent include Navos, whose song 'Believe Me' exploded this summer with over 52 million streams on Spotify alone, and the breezy funk-fuelled sounds of Nikki & The Waves.
Scottish rockers The Snuts play Friday night, following their debut album 'W.L' reaching number 1 in the UK album charts earlier this year. They are the first Scottish group to do so with their debut record since The View's 'Hats Off to the Buskers' in 2007.
Although Friday is completely sold out, few tickets for Saturday and Sunday are available on the Sound City website.
