Shotgun found in Walton
Police have found a shotgun and ammunition at a house in Walton.
Detectives from Merseyside Police’s Matrix gun crime unit recovered a firearm and ammunition yesterday (Thursday, 25 August). A warrant was executed at an address in Curtis Road, Walton at about 7pm. Officers conducted a thorough search of the property, resulting in the recovery of a shotgun and five shells. Forensic experts are now examining the weapon and ammunition. Detective Constable Billy Williamson said: "This is a great result as we have taken a potentially lethal weapon out of circulation. "There are some people in our communities who are prepared to use firearms to protect their criminal enterprise and they bring fear and intimidation to our streets. "I would encourage the public to call us if they know where weapons are being stored, or if they have any information about those involved in gun crime. You can be entirely confident that information provided will be acted up on and this could really help us to make our communities safer. We are relentless in our pursuit of those involved in gun crime and any information, no matter how small, could lead to our officers recovering a gun and maybe even saving someone's life." Anyone who has any information can call Matrix Serious and Organised team on 0800 230 0600 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
