Shotgun found in Halewood garden
Someone called police after finding a shotgun buried in their garden on Tarleton Close.
Merseyside Police can confirm a shotgun was found in a garden in Halewood on Saturday (4 June 2016). At about 4.20pm a member of the public reported finding what appeared to be a shotgun buried in the garden on Tarleton Close. Officers attended to recover the weapon, believed to be a sawn off shotgun, and searched the area. The gun will be forensically examined. Detective Constable John Heath said: "The latest recovery means there is one less firearm in circulation on our streets that could be used to cause fear, harm or even worse in our communities. We are relentless in our pursuit of those involved in gun crime and will continue to carry out searches such as this to make our streets safer. "Information from the community is vital in our fight against gun crime and this discovery has been brought about through continued work with the community as part of our on-going pursuit to reduce firearms possession and discharges across Merseyside. "This firearm will be taken away and examined by crime scene investigators.
