A man who pretended to help a young woman and then attacked her has been jailed for eight years.
49-year-old Darren Barr took the woman to his home, rather than calling a taxi to take her home, before locking her in and sexually assaulting and strangling her.
He also warned that he could rape her.
After two hours she managed to escape, leading to Barr's arrest.
He denied her claims but yesterday was found guilty and convicted of five offences at Liverpool Crown Court.
Barr, of Holt Crescent in Billinge, has also been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
He shook his head as sentencing was announced, appearing from Altcourse prison via video link.
During the trial, the court heard how the victim was not Barr's only victim, as in 2017 he pretended to help another woman, sexually assaulting her too.
Judge Andrew Menary KC, the recorder of Liverpool, said the assault on November 20 last year "must have been a nightmare ordeal" for the woman.
