Police say no evidence of shots fired after reported shooting in Tuebrook

A number of people have been arrested after a car was damaged on West Derby Road

Police are investigating after an incident in Tuebrook last night where shots are believed to have been fired at a car, but say there's no evidence a gun was fired

Officers were called to West Derby Road at 9.25pm to reports a parked black Lexus car had been damaged, possibly as a result of a firearms discharge.

Nobody was inside the car at the time and nobody was injured during the incident.

Then at around 9.55pm, armed police stopped a black Audi A1 on Muirhead Avenue at the junction with Queens Drive.

A Force spokesman said: "Following further investigations today, Merseyside Police can confirm there is no evidence of a firearm having been discharged."

Four men who were arrested are now being questioned on suspicion of causing criminal damage

They are: A 27-year-old man from Woodchurch, Wirral; a 23-year-old man from Woodchurch, Wirral; a 19-year-old man from West Derby; and a 21-year-old man from West Derby.
