Seven year old boy finds knife in Prescot park
Police are warning people to be vigilant after a young boy found a knife in a children's play area in Prescot.
Officers were called to Browns Field in the town after the seven year old found the weapon and reported it to his mum.
A message on the Knowsley Police Facebook page read: "Thank you to the member of the public who contacted us today to hand this knife in."
"What is very sad about this story is that a 7 year old child found this knife hidden under some woodchip in the childrens play area. Luckily no one has been injured as a result of this."
"Luckily this child was mature enough to alert mum to the knife which is now with us and out of harms way"
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We would like to reassure parents and users of the park that no further items have been located by officers today."
