Seacombe couple accused of assaulting baby son, appear in court

A man and woman from Wirral, accused of assaulting their three-month-old son have appeared in court.
Klevi Pirjani, 36, and Nivalda Santos Pirjani, 33, are both charged with causing grievous bodily harm to their son Miguel Pirjani, who died in the days after the alleged assault.
The two defendants, both of Percy Road in Seacombe, Wirral, appeared via videolink from separate prisons for a hearing at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday.
An interpreter also appeared over the link.
Honorary Recorder of Liverpool Judge Andrew Menary KC said a trial would take place on either May 19 or September 22 next year.
A plea and trial preparation hearing was listed for January 27.
Both defendants were remanded in custody.
Officers were called to reports of concern for a child at a property on Percy Road at about midday on Sunday November 24, a spokesman for Merseyside Police said.
Miguel was taken to hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on Friday November 29.
