Four schoolchildren arrested as man fights for his life in hospital
The 55 year old man was attacked outside Bootle Strand on Tuesday

Four children, including an 11 year old girl. have been arrested over an attack in Bootle which has left a man in a critical condition.
It happened outside Bootle Strand on Stanley Road at about 1:15am on Tuesday. A 55 year old man remains in hospital.
A 12 year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of theft, and three boys aged 13, 14, and 15 have been arrested on suspicion of s18 grievous bodily harm with intent.
They are all currently in custody where they will be questioned by officers.
A 26 year-old man arrested yesterday on suspicion of assault remains in custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Dyer said:
“We have now made a number of arrests but we are continuing to appeal for anyone who witnessed this incident to contact us.
“If you were driving through Stanley Road early yesterday morning and have dashcam footage of the incident or saw anything suspicious then please let us know. All information you hold could be vital to our enquiries.”
