Run For The 96 5K is a new and accessible for all running event in memory of the 96 Liverpool football

The route will start and finish in Stanley Park, with the route taking runners past Liverpool’s Anfield Stadium and close to Everton’s Goodison Park. The football grounds will provide a fitting backdrop as runners show their respect for the 96 as they run to remember. The route would have taken participants past the Eternal Flame on Anfield Road, but the memorial has now been rehoused in Liverpool Anglican Cathedral while the redevelopment of the Anfield area is underway. A temporary memorial has been located in the Centenary Stand.

Run For The 96 5K will give people the opportunity to get involved with a community based initiative, encouraging first time or new runners to take up the challenge. The event is also likely to attract families and, of course, support from the city’s Red and Blue football communities. The run also has the support of the Hillsborough Family Support Group.

Participants are invited to support and fundraise for the event’s two official charities, which we are delighted to announce are the Liverpool FC Foundation and Everton in the Community. This is a key part of the event’s commitment to ensuring that local communities benefit from the legacy run.
