"Reckless" Arson Attack In Everton

Police are investigating a suspected arson attack on a house in Everton

Emergency services were called at about 11.40pm to a report a small fire had caused damage to the front door of a property on Reservoir Street.

Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service was called at 11.29pm and sent three fire appliances to the scene but the fire was out when they arrived. Firefighters checked the fire was extinguished. No one was injured.

The scene has been examined and a joint investigation is underway with Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service into the cause of the fire.

House-to-house enquiries are underway in the area and CCTV is being sought.

Detective Sergeant Paul Lamb, said: “Whoever did this is incredibly reckless and has put lives at risk. It is only through sheer good fortune that the person inside the property was not injured, or even killed.

“I’d like to reassure the community that incidents such as this are very rare and we are doing everything we can to bring the people responsible to justice.

“I would also appeal to anyone who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area, or has any information whatsoever about this incident, to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”
