Rave on in Liverpool
First legal club event in over a year as part of a government trial
Three thousand people packed into a warehouse at Bramley Moore Dock in Liverpool last night for a government trial event.
They didn’t have to wear masks or socially distance - but they did have to show a negative Covid test before they went in and will have to have tests in a few days’ time.
It's one of several events taking place here over the weekend - for research to see how live music events can be opened across the UK.
This was the reaction from some of the people at the event:
“It feels surreal…honestly it feels amazing I just want it to be like this all the time…I really didn’t think we’d get this again – so being like this is indescribable.”
Liverpool director of public health Matt Ashton said it was "wonderful'' to see the looks on clubbers' faces as they returned to the dancefloor.
He said the event gave a glimpse of what the future might hold but stressed it was still a scientific experiment about how more events could be opened in the future.
A second rave's taking place this afternoon - then tomorrow there's the gig at Sefton Park with Blossoms headlining.
