Radio City takes No More Knives campaign to the streets of Liverpool
We've joined police setting up knife arches outside bars and clubs
Radio City's taken our No More Knives campaign to the streets - as we work with the police to get blades out of the city centre
We spent last night out with officers setting up knife arches outside bars and clubs in the city centre
Three were placed on Ropewalks, Bold Street and Wood street to detect anyone carrying a blade. Hundreds of people were searched by officers who were carrying knife wands
They were also on hand to reassure members of the public about the operation and the reasons behind it
Venues have backed the move.
It's after the death of Sam Cook who was stabbed to death on Seel Street last year while out celebrating his 21st birthday.
Chief Inspector Steve Brizell from Merseyside Police said: "We've set the operation up to make sure we reassure the public and we're in the position to, if anyone is carrying a knife, to find it and recover it"
"I think it shows that Merseyside Police and our partners, the bars, clubs and the Council, that we are taking action and we are doing all we can to keep people safe"
