As the number of people across Merseyside and Cheshire receiving their second Covid Vaccine rises by more than a third in a week, Psychologists here are warning no more lockdowns.

430,000 adults across the region have now had both doses of the jab - with 118,000 of those in the last seven days.

With shops and beer gardens gearing up for another sunny weekend, Dr Mark Forshaw from John Moores University says the Government need to make sure we don't get locked down again :

"If you are in and out of lockdown, people have hope and sometime that is false hope and that's really tough.

"In some ways if we were to go back in time then maybe a longer lockdown would have actually worked because people would have tolerated it rather than the dipping in and out but we are where we are, the crucial message is we don't want to end up there again.

"If you are not ready yet to open up yourself even though the world is opening up or at least part of it are, if you're not ready for that then that's ok. It's fine to be careful and cautious. It's good to dip your toes into the water but it doesn't mean you have to jump into the deep end right now".
