A charity supporting some of the most deprived families in Liverpool is urging Boris Johnson to come to Liverpool to see the devastation planned Universal Credit cuts could cause.

It's feared the £20 benefit cut, coupled with a potential rise in gas prices, the end of furlough and the social care tax will push tens of thousands of people here to the brink.

Gerard Woodhouse runs the L6 Centre in Everton, he says he can only see things getting worse:

"We order our shopping online and I noticed one thing today, two pints o fmilk have gone up by six pence. Everything's going up and for the life of me I can't understand where this government is coming from.

"They need to get out of London and come and see the effects this is having on people. Come and spend a day with us please.

"In Liverpool this is going to affect seventy thousand people. Hopefully we can keep on doing what we do best but on top of this we've got Christmas; last year we helped twenty two thousand people that is a really big number and I anticipate we're going to get more referrals this year".
