Merseyside Police is appealing for information after a suspected arson at an empty house in Bootle last night, 6 April. At around 7.55pm, Merseyside Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called to the house on Scott Street. Occupants of the neighbouring houses were evacuated and the house was gutted. The location remains a scene this morning for fire investigation and forensic enquiries. Sefton Detective Chief Inspector Gayle Rooney said: "We are keen to speak to anyone with information, particularly local people who may have seen people in the vicinity of the address last night, or on previous occasions, as we believe that the house may have been used as a meeting place for local youths. "Fortunately, nobody was hurt but we are treating this incident as deliberate, and one which could clearly have had catastrophic consequences for neighbouring residents." Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Sefton CID on 0151 777 3835, call 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
