Police patrols stepped up after Sefton shooting
A man presented himself at hospital on Friday night with a gunshot injury
Police say patrols are being stepped up in Sefton, after a shooting left a man with a leg injury.
A 27 year old man presented himself at hospital with a gunshot wound to his ankle at around 10.30pm on Friday, although his injury isn't life threatening.
Officers say the man isn't cooperating with enquiries.
An investigation is now underway, and it's thought the shooting took place in Gorsey Lane area of Litherland.
A firearm has also been found in mud within the ground of Bootle Golf Course.
Detective Inspector Sara Lang said: “We are treating this as a targeted incident and are continuing to carry out a number of lines of enquiry.
“We have a large police presence in the Litherland area and I would encourage people to come forward and tell us what they know.
“There is no room for guns on the streets and we will do everything we can to find the person or people responsible for this incident and bring them to justice.”
Anyone with information can contact Merseyside Police on 101, quoting log 967 of 2 February.
