Officers have released CCTV images of three people they are looking to speak to following a distraction theft in Warrington.

At around 11.30am on Monday 14 October, a vulnerable man in a wheelchair withdrew £4,000 from Barclays Bank on Market Gate.

After leaving the bank, the man returned to his car in Legh Street car park.

As the man was putting his wheelchair back into his car, he was distracted by an unknown woman who began talking to him.

While the man was being distracted, a second woman then entered his car and stole the £4,000 cash from the vehicle. Both women then left the scene.

Enquiries in relation to the incident have been ongoing and as part of the investigation officers have now released CCTV images of three women they are looking to speak to speak to.

Police Constable Graham Davies, of Warrington Town Centre Beat Team, said:

“From our initial investigation it would appear at that that the suspects have followed the victim across Warrington after watching him withdraw the cash.

“After stealing the money we believe that the offenders have fled in a taxi, which took them to the Paddington area, but from there we’ve been unable to trace their whereabouts. Although it is likely that they have travelled to Warrington from another area.

“As part of our ongoing investigation, we’re keen to identify the three women in the CCTV images, as we believe they may hold vital information.” Hear all the latest news from across the UK on the hour, every hour, on Greatest Hits Radio on DAB, smartspeaker, at greatesthitsradio.co.uk, and on the Rayo app.
