It's believed those reposinsbile for attack turned up in Mini

Police investigating a shooting in Speke - which left three men injured are appealing for help in tracing people seen in a blue Mini outside the house

Emergency services were called at around 8.45pm to reports three men in an address on Ramsbrook Close had been shot from outside.

A 31-year-old man and a 37-year-old man were taken to hospital for treatment to leg injuries. A third man, aged 20, later presented himself at hospital with a slight injury to his arm which was caused by glass fragments.

The 37-year-old and the 20 year-old have both been discharged from hospital. The 31-year-old man remains in hospital where his condition is described as ‘comfortable’.

It is believed that the offenders arrived and left Rambrook Close in a blue three door Mini Cooper S, which was bearing the false registration plates BF03 GVA, and which was stolen in Whiston in February.

Following the discharge the Mini left Ramsbrook Close at speed without lights and turned right into Blacklock Hill Road and onto Hale Road towards Widnes and was involved in a collision with a taxi injuring the driver and two passengers.

Both male occupants, described as wearing dark clothing, ran from the scene into fields.

Detectives are today appealing for help in identifying the two males or anyone who may have seen them running away from Hale Road following the collision.

Officers are also keen to establish where the Mini was kept between the date it was stolen – Friday 3 February 2017 – and when the discharge took place.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Tivendale said: "We believe that someone has information about the car and the individuals who were in it and I would urge them to come forward as their information could be vital for this investigation.

"The car was quite distinctive. Somebody must know where it was being kept in the time between it being stolen and being used on Saturday night.

"I want to reassure people that we are committed to protecting our communities and finding the people responsible for this incident but we also need the public’s help in coming forward with information.

“I would ask if anyone witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious that could help the investigation then please contact our gun crime hotline on 0800 230 0600 or leave information anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
