Police investigating after body found in Rainhill

A cordon is in place after the discovery was made in the early hours

Police are investigating after a body was found in Rainhill.

A cordon is currently in place on Warrington Road, after a man was found in the early hours of this morning. It is believed he sustained injuries inside a house.

A 33-year-old man was taken to hospital by ambulance crews but was pronounced dead shortly later. His next of kin have been informed.

In a statement, the force said: "We can confirm emergency services are currently in Rainhill this morning, Monday 19 February, after the body of a man was found.

"We received a report at around 2.40am that a 33-year-old man had sustained injuries inside a home on Warrington Road and officers attended the scene.

"The man was taken to hospital but sadly he was pronounced dead shortly later. His next of kin have been informed."

Merseyside Police are now appealing for information, and are looking for any CCTV or doorbell footage that might have captured what happened.
