Police hunt gunman after Kirkby shooting

A man burst into a property firing a gun last night

An investigation's underway, after a man burst into a property in Kirby last night (Friday 2 February) and fired a gun.

Merseyside Police were called to Henlow Avenue in Southdene just before 7pm. It's understood the shooter was accompanied by another male who stayed outside the property, they were both wearing balaclavas.

After the shooting, the pair rode off on purple and lime green electric bike and a black bike.

No injuries have been reported.

Chief Inspector Paul Rannard said: “I am appealing for anyone who was in the vicinity of Henlow Avenue at around 7pm this evening who may have seen two male acting suspiciously to contact us.

“I urge people to check your CCTV, dashcam devices or doorbell footage capturing the incident or the two males in the area and making off from the scene which will help with our enquiries. Any information you provide, however, insignificant it may seem, could be vital to the investigation.”

Chief Inspector Rannard continued: “Merseyside Police immediately responds to incidents involving guns and is actively working to make the region a safer place to live and work.

“There is no room for guns on the streets and we will do everything within our power to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

“Any information from the public is vital if you know where guns are being stored, I urge you to contact Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111."
