Officers left 'shocked' after police car bricked in Huyton
Merseyside Police say those responsible have a 'lack of respect'
Police officers in Knowsley are said to have been "shocked" when they returned to their car to find a brick had been thrown through the window.
The patrol car attended a report of a cannabis farm on Primrose Drive, Huyton at around 9:50pm yesterday evening (16th Feb). Upon entry to the flat, officers located eight cannabis plants in the bedroom and found the electricity had been bridged. The plants were seized and the electricity supply was made safe by Scottish Power. The home owner will attend a voluntary police interview.
After dealing with the incident, officers made their way back to their car at around 11:20pm where they found the passenger window had been smashed meaning they were unable to continue their shift.
Community Inspector Simon Peers from Merseyside Police said: “Our job is to keep you safe and it is really upsetting to see that this is what we get in return. Repairing a damaged patrol car isn’t just a quick fix – this leaves us one car down meaning less officers are able to patrol the streets, help vulnerable people and respond to incidents
“In a time where there is already a huge demand on all emergency services, it is shocking that this anti-social and careless behaviour carries on.
“Luckily the officers weren’t inside the car at the time, but they were dealing with a separate incident. Needless to say, this was unnecessary and shows the true nature of some people and their complete lack of respect for services who go above and beyond to keep them safe.”
