Merseyside Police can confirm that an investigation has been launched after three men were found with stab injuries outside a petrol station in West Derby late last night. Patrols were alerted to the incident by paramedics at around midnight and on arrival at Larkhill filling station on Queens Drive found three men being treated for injuries to their upper bodies. All three were taken to hospitals in Merseyside for emergency treatment. Two men aged 23 and 26 are on a recovery ward this morning. One man aged 42 is undergoing further surgery today. Detectives are treating the incident as a targeted attack and are appealing for witnesses. In particular they want to hear from anyone who saw a silver Ford Focus Titanium being driven away from the scene. Detective Chief Inspector Phil Mahon from Liverpool CID said: “We believe this was a targeted attack and our investigation into who is responsible and why they did this is still at a very early stage. The men who were attacked have suffered serious but thankfully not life-threatening injuries and they are being treated at local hospitals. We believe they have been stabbed and we hope to be able to speak to them to establish how and why this happened. Although it was very late at night there may have been people using the petrol station nearby or driving along Queens Drive who saw the incident or the silver Ford Focus driving off.
