Detectives investigating the murder of Joseph McKeever in Everton have issued an appeal for witnesses who may have seen the car that his body was found in.

Officers are looking for anyone who may have seen a blue Ford Focus ST which was parked close to the front door of a house on Picton Crescent in Wavertree at around 5.30pm on Thursday 15th June with the boot open.

A group of males were also seen standing close to the car.

It is believed the same car was later recovered burnt-out on wasteland near Wyre Road, Everton at 11.10pm.

The body of Mr McKeever, 54, was found inside the car.

Detective Chief Inspector John Middleton said: "We know that the Ford Focus was parked up close to the front doorway of a property on Picton Crescent with its boot open.

"Picton Crescent leads onto Picton Road which is a major thoroughfare and at the time of the evening, around 5.30pm, we believe a lot of people would have been driving, or walking past and may have seen the car or the group of males.

"I would also appeal to anyone who saw the car leaving Picton Crescent or has any clues as to where it was between the time it left and 11.10pm when it was found burnt out on Whitehaven Road to get in touch.

"This is an ongoing investigation but we are committed to finding the people responsible for the death of Mr McKeever and bringing them to justice.

"I would ask anyone who has any information which could assist with our enquiries to contact us as a matter of urgency.
