What is Pokémon Go?

Pokémon Go is the augmented reality game that has broken download records.

Today it's been launched in the UK after first coming out in Australia and New Zealand where it's become a phenomenon.

Even though it’s not been available in Britain until now, you might already have heard about it because thousands of players in the UK have already downloaded the app by changing their region settings or using unofficial app stores.

How does the game work?

Players basically have to travel around their local area looking for Pokémon in the real world which show up on a map of a virtual world on their phone.

Once the app detects a Pokémon the phone will vibrate and players then have to touch the screen to throw a Poke ball to catch it.

There are hundreds of different Pokémon to find so it’s keeping people pretty busy… expect lots more posts about it on your Facebook feed!
