Plans have been announced to help raise funds for a permanent memorial for Viola Beach in Warrington.

Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe and Jack Dakin - and their manager Craig Tarry were killed when their hire car plunged 25 metres off a bridge into a canal near the Swedish capital Stockholm on February 13th.

Now Warrington Council have announced plans to fund a permanent tribute to the band in their hometown.

A fundraising page has been set up by the Council to help towards raising money for the plans.

Next month, the Coral will lead a special memorial night at Parr Hall in Warrington - which will pay tribute to the band.

Mayor of Warrington Cllr Jeff Settle said:

"The idea behind it is a memorial of some sort. We have a couple of ideas, but it's for the families to have their say about what they want and where they want it"

"It's more for people who want to come and see the history of the band and for the youngsters, I'd like it to be an inspriation for future generations"
