Paul Hollywood among more than 100 North West New Year's Honour recipients

The GBBO judge has been made an MBE for services to baking and broadcasting

Great British Bake off judge Paul Hollywood is one of more than 100 people in the North West to be recognised in the King's New Years Honours list.

The Wallasey-born 57-year-old has been made an MBE for services to baking and broadcasting.

After being named Sports Personality of the Year earlier this month, Manchester United and England goalkeeper Mary Earps has been made an MBE for services to football. Manchester City and England forward Lauren Hemp has been made an OBE.

Elsewhere, a survivor of the Westminster Bridge attack, who is from Darwen in Lancashire, has been made an OBE for his work to combat radicalism.

Travis Frain, 25, was hit by a car driven by Khalid Masood on Westminster Bridge in London in 2017.

He has since campaigned for the rights of terror victims to receive improved support from the state whilst also trying to prevent future attacks.

Mr Frain also goes into schools and colleges to share his experience and campaigned for a plaque to be installed on Westminster Bridge in memory of those affected.

  • Jude Godden, from Dulton in Furness, made an MBE for services to the community in Westmoreland and Lonsdale
  • Elsie Martlew, from Carlisle, made an MBE for political and public service
  • Ehinor Otaigbe-Amedu, from Bolton, made an MBE for services to women in Greater Manchester
  • Daniel Hill, from Lowton, made an MBE for charitable services to bereaved families
  • Nick Johnson & Jenny Thompson, from Altrincham, made MBEs for services to business and to the food sector
  • Christie Kenyon, from Bolton, made an MBE for services to further education
  • Marion Meakin, from Manchester, made an MBE for services to reducing reoffending and public protection
  • Kathryn Morley, from Manchester, made an MBE for services to young people
  • Stephen Sorrell, from Stockport, made an MBE for services to arts and culture in Greater Manchester
  • Lydia Ina, from Manchester, made an MBE for services to vulnerable children
  • John Hubert, from Hale, made an MBE for services to homeless men in Manchester
  • Carrie Byrom, from Wigan, made an MBE for services to mental health and the community in the North West
  • Dr Simon Grant, from Preston, made an MBE for services to diversity in the chemical industry
  • Carolene Sargeant, from Blackpool, made an MBE for services to dance
  • Catherine Penny, from Preston, made an MBE for services to plant heritage and to the community in North Preston

  • Elizabeth Hawkins, from Wirral, made an MBE for services to young people and the community in Wirral
